Redirect to friendly url

Sacha,
are you planning to handle canonical urls?
Well I'm not sure "canonical urls" is the correct term, I mean redirecting all page urls to a single friendly url of choice.
For example URLMaster does this, allowing you to choose for every page (and culture) which is your friendly url, and then redirecting all requests to that page to the friendly url with a 301.

Say you have:

www.example.com/home//Default.aspx?TabId=57
www.example.com//Home/tabid/57/Default.aspx
www.example.com//Home/
www.example.com

We should be able to set (or openurl could do this automatically?) the latest url as "preferred friendly url for page", then openurl should do a 301 redirect from the other page urls. Now it just gives a 200 for all urls.
This would mean a great improvement towards search engines afaik.

Thank you,
al.

Hi,

The url generated by open url rewriter is the default prefered url.
If you want an other one you can use the page url in dnn 7.1 or the keyword field in dnn < 7.1

The open url rewriter already include some redirections from the default dnn urls.

But, yes some improvement are possible.

I will put your suggestion in the issue tracker

work item

Sacha
